Fabulous Female Footballers

This week the girls had a wonderful surprise – an visit from an inspirational¬†Female footballer, the lovely Caitlin Fisher. I could gush about Cait for ages,¬†she’s played professional football at Santos in Brazil, played college soccer in America and she is the co-founder of the Guerreira’s Project, an organisation that talks about football and gender. They’ve done fantastic work around the world.

The team got to ask Cait about how she got to play at the level she did, what Brazil is like (she’s living there at the moment, just happened to have a fly by visit in London – lucky us!). They also asked her about famous footballers she’d met. Ronaldiho makes the list, in case you were curious.

Over the course of the next few months we’ll be matching each of the players at Hackney Laces with an older more experienced player. This is to help with skill development (they’ll get loads of 1-1 coaching tips) help build confidence and act a bit like a mentor (helping inspire players both to continue with sport but also with their plans for the future and what they’d like to do when they grow up).
